What does it mean to find success? For Oleksandra Klimantova, it looks like unlocking the doors of 7 Elephants, the rhythmic gymnastics studio she opened in Buffalo this year. Oleksandra and her family came to Buffalo as war broke out in the Ukraine, at which time JFS’ case managers stepped in to support the family through their transition.

Oleksandra reflects that JFS, “helped us not only find a place to live and secure housing support, but also guided us through all the necessary documents and provided both emotional and material assistance during an incredibly difficult time…Thanks to JFS, we were able to stand on our feet, feel safe again, and slowly begin rebuilding our lives.”

Now, within her gym’s walls, Oleksandra has created a new home for herself and for her students, many of whom are Ukrainian as well. Movement can be incredibly therapeutic, and Oleksandra is uniquely prepared to teach the next generation of rhythmic gymnasts- she has won over 150 medals in her own gymnastic career.

7 Elephants is growing as a new community anchor in Buffalo, spurred on by Oleksandra’s dedication and spirit. At JFS, we’re looking forward to seeing her continued success in our community as she coaches a new generation of rhythmic gymnasts.  Congratulations!
