Jewish Family Services of Western New York would like to express our sincere concern following the events that took place at McKinley High School in Buffalo during yesterday’s late afternoon hours.
Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, and it is with a sigh of relief that both survived.
This level of violence reminds us that we are one community. And as a community, we must remember that it is not only the physical violence that occurred. For the victims and those around them who endured an unpredictable situation, there is no doubt of the fear and trauma experienced and that it will take time and support to work through those feelings. We are confident that the City of Buffalo and Buffalo Public Schools will provide the supportive tools that will be necessary for the students and staff of McKinley High School.
We stand in solidarity with all those involved and remain at the ready for any support that may be needed.
