As we reflect on events of this past week, we are reminded that we are still a distance from achieving equity and community harmony.
Jewish Family Services of Western New York stands in solidarity with the members of Temple Beth Israel following the harrowing hostage event that took place outside of Dallas, Texas on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Further, we stand in community with all those who practice the Jewish faith and culture and all those who, like us, condemn antisemitism in any form.
We shall be supportive of all efforts by our sister agency, Jewish Family Service of Dallas, as it begins the process of supporting and healing their community. As trauma comes in many forms, with individuals coping with trauma in many ways, we stand ready to assist in any way possible.
Our agency also stands at the ready for our local community members for any support they may need during their own process of coping with the reverberating impacts felt nationwide and around the world.
While we are grateful of safe a conclusion of this event through the efforts of the FBI and all engaged law enforcement agencies, we must continue to speak against antisemitism and any form of hate.
Our sincere thoughts are with the families of all those impacted by this event and the community of Colleyville, Texas.
